Here is what I sent to the family:

Dear Richards Family,

Rex, Ronald G. George, Don Miller, Alan Thomas, Roger Anderson, Gary McCann and I flew on a PAN AM 707 to Tokyo arriving on the 30th of March 1961. The next day we were sent on our way. Rex rode with us as far as Nagoya. I saw him only one other time that I remember at a missionary conference in Fukuoka.

He seemed gentle and kind. I wish I had known him better. Here is a picture of him at Fukuoka, also attached. I am the one with my hand over my face.

My wife Joanne and I send our condolences.

Wade W. Fillmore

Note: In the picture from left to right the missionaries are: Elder Roger Austin, WWF, Elder Steve Francom, Elder Rex Richards and an Elder unknown to me, perhaps Elder Harold Wilkinson.
